Instructions

To install the java client on your mobile phone please follow the instructions below:

  1. Ensure your phone is supported (Nokia N95 or Sony Ericsson K800i are officially supported)
  2. On your phone, navigate to http://me.ammeon.com/download/.
  3. Select the link to download the Commune Client
  4. Once the application download is complete, you will need to change some settings to view all the features.
  5. On the Sony Ericsson K800i:
    In the Applications section, select Commune, then More, then Permissions.
    Confirm settings as below:
    - Internet Access: Never Ask
    - Read User Data: Never Ask
    - Write User Data: Never Ask
    Select Settings>Connectivity>Internet Settings>Settings for Java
    - Select the correct APN for your network (see FAQs)
    - Select the same APN for the Streaming Settings (also in this area).
  6. On the Nokia N95
    Select Menu>Applications>App.manager>ME Client
    Confirm settings as below:
    - Network Access: Always Allowed
    - Connectivity: Always Allowed
    - Read User Data: Always Allowed
    - Write User Data:: Always Allowed
  7. From the Applications Menu, select the Commune application to start watching.
  8. Once Commune has started, you will need to enter a user name and a phone number to participate. Please ensure that you use a unique name between 3 and 6 characters in length.
  9. Once your name has been approved, you will need to subscribe to the Mobile Europe community. Using the left softkey, select "Add Space", then select Mobile Europe and click "subscribe". You can then go back and enter the space.
  10. Once in the Mobile Europe Space, you will see a Pro Channel, showing all of Mobile Europe's interviews from the Mobile World Congress, and a Member Channel, showing user generated content uploaded from user's handsets.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When I go to the mobile site, I get an error stating that my device is not supported?

We currently support only the Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB and the Sony Ericsson K800i. If you are not using one of these phones, please check back soon, as we are adding support for additional phones in the future.

2. When I try to add a user name after I've downloaded the client, the client takes me back to the log in page?

Make sure you are using a user name with 3-6 characters. Longer or shorter names are not supported.

3. Uploading videos seems to take a very long time?

Please make sure you are in an area of good 3G coverage. You should also make sure you record videos on your mobile phone in a medium or low resolution (sometimes shown as mms or email resolution). High resolution videos are large in size and will take a longer time to upload.

4. I have uploaded a video but it is not showing on the Member channel?

As we manually moderate all video uploads for sensitive content, there may be a delay between when you upload a video and when it is scheduled to play on the Member channel.
