Ammeon’s management team combines more than 70 years of experience in the design, build and deployment of telecommunications and media solutions. All of our staff are drawn from leading service providers, system integrators and product manufacturers. As a privately owned vendor-independent company, we pride ourselves in offering unbiased consultancy and innovative solutions. Joe Cunningham (Chairman)
Prior to founding Ammeon, Joe Cunningham was formerly Technical Director with the Mobile Networks business of Logica plc (now LogicaCMG) between 1997 and 2003 following Logica’s acquisition of Aldiscon in 1997. In this role he was responsible for strategy, design and development of Logica’s Messaging, IN and Roaming product lines in a unit with revenues exceeding $550m. Joe was a co-founder of APiON, a Belfast-based pioneer of WAP infrastructure technology, which was acquired by Openwave Inc in 1999.
Joe was co-founder and Technical Director of Aldiscon at the end of the 1980’s. This business pioneered the Short Message Service for mobile networks and built the world’s most successful product in this area supplying over 150 wireless carriers worldwide. Joe holds a number of patents in the wireless messaging, roaming and intelligent networking fields. A telecommunications engineer by training, Joe was previously with Nortel and STC Telecommunications in the UK.
Joe's outstanding contribution to innovation in the IT & telecoms sector was recently recognised when he received the "IT Pioneer" award from the Irish and British (Belfast office) Computing Societies celebrating 50 Years of Computing in Ireland.
Fred Jones (CEO)
Fred Jones has sixteen years of experience in the Mobile Telecommunications industry, including four years working for Logica Mobile Networks, where he worked as Engineering Manager for the wireless messaging product portfolio. Prior to this, Fred held numerous management positions within Ericsson, both in Ireland and in Canada. These roles included Product Manager, Engineering Manager and Systems Engineering Manager for Ericsson's leading voice and data products. Fred was one of the founding members of the MMS IOP Group and holds a Master of Engineering degree from Dublin City University.
Rory MacHale (CTO)
Rory MacHale has over twenty years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including nine years immediately prior to Ammeon working exclusively in wireless telecommunications for Aldiscon, subsequently Logica Mobile Networks, where he worked within the Office of the CTO with responsibility for incubation of new product lines. Prior to this, Rory was Technical Sales Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa during the most successful growth years of this sales region. Rory's other roles within Logica included Technical Product Manager and Systems Engineering Manager for Logica's leading globally deployed SMSC product. Rory has held a number of senior industry positions including Steering Group membership of the MMS IOP Group, Chairman of the Wireless Protocols Group at the WAP Forum and he recently completed a term as member of the Board of Directors of the Open Mobile Alliance. Prior to Logica, Rory worked for a successful Irish telecommunications exporter, Softech Telecom, and worked for five years within the public telecommunications division of Siemens AG in Munich, Germany.
Clive Hannon (COO)
Clive Hannon has over twelve years experience working within the telecommunications industry. After qualifying as an Industrial Engineer his career commenced at Ericsson where he held various positions encompassing Resource Planning, Contract, Project and Account Management spread across several Ericsson product lines. After joining Logica in 1998, Clive headed up the Systems Integration division of Logica's Messaging business taking responsibility for the successful rollout of their messaging products on a global basis. Clive has a proven track record in effective team building, customer relationship management and product rollout.
Clive Steady (UK General Manager)
Clive has over 20 years of telecommunications experience gained working for a variety of fixed and mobile network companies. Prior to joining Ammeon, he spent nine years with LogicaCMG’s mobile products organisation and during this time established successful customer facing, product management and software development organisations. In his earlier career Clive worked as a Principal Consultant for PA Consulting Group, and in technology related roles for Energis, SITA, Nortel and GPT. Clive is responsible for leading Ammeon’s UK-based organisation and business.
